Lake Claire, Georgia

A sought-after neighborhood in urban Atlanta, Lake Claire is nestled between Little Five Points to the west and Oakhurst to the east. Lake Claire boasts the green expanses of Candler Park, Cator Woolford Gardens and Deepdene Park just beyond its boundaries. Lake Claire Park lies almost at the center of the community. The neighborhood also manages the Harold Avenue Greenspace for the city of Atlanta.

Lake Claire is served by MARTA's Blue Line, and both the East Lake and Edgewood/Candler Park stations are located within a mile of the neighborhood, along DeKalb Avenue. The train connects with the Red Line at nearby Five Points, giving residents easy access to all Atlanta locations, including Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport and the Atlanta Civic Center. Four bus lines serve the neighborhood as well.

Lake Claire is known for its gardens, good schools and diverse population of young families, empty nesters, artists and business executives. The neighborhood has an active community association, called Lake Claire Neighbors, and an even more active Lake Claire Garden Club. Lake Claire includes a part of the grounds of the Cator Woolford Gardens at the Frazer Center, once part of a single estate. Today the estate is a popular venue for weddings.

While there never was a body of water named Lake Claire, there was an intersection. Lakeshore Drive and Claire Drive lent their name to this community that now encompasses about 1,200 homes on winding streets in a park-like enclave within minutes of downtown Atlanta. Even though there is no commercial district, McLendon Avenue nearly bisects the neighborhood and can whisk residents efficiently to nearby shopping and entertainment.
